In a tragic series of events that unfolded approximately 4,000 miles from his Arizona home, a terminally ill man traveled to Alaska to target his ex-wife. Matthew Becker, 61, a comedy club owner from Bisbee, Arizona, was found dead on March 15, 2026, after allegedly attempting to shoot his ex-wife and killing her father.
Becker reportedly arrived in Anchorage, Alaska, on the morning of March 14, 2026, and tampered with the lock at his ex-wife's hair salon. When she arrived, he emerged from a waiting car and fired shots at her. She managed to escape and call for help.
Concerned for her elderly father, Romaine Clark, 87, whom she lived with, she informed the authorities. Officers conducted a wellness check at their home and discovered Clark had been fatally shot. Police believe Becker drove directly to Clark's residence after the incident at the salon.
Following a manhunt, Becker was discovered deceased in a wooded area near Eagle River, outside Anchorage, approximately 24 hours after Clark's body was found. He had a gunshot wound to the upper body, and the cause of death is pending an examination.
Becker's ex-wife was unaware he was in Alaska. His brother confirmed Becker had been living in Arizona since their divorce and had recently received a terminal cancer diagnosis. The Chuckleheads comedy club issued a statement disavowing Becker's actions.
