Authorities in Lake County have arrested a 72-year-old Antioch man on multiple felony counts of possessing child pornography. The investigation was initiated following a tip from an email provider that detected suspicious activity originating from a device within Lake County. Law enforcement traced the electronic signal to a residence in Antioch, Illinois.
During a search of the property, sheriff's officers were assisted by two specialized electronic detection K9 units, named Grip and Enzo. Their sophisticated capabilities were instrumental in locating evidence. The search resulted in the seizure of various electronic devices containing dozens of images and videos of child pornography involving children under the age of 13.
David J. Ransdell now faces five felony charges related to the possession of child pornography. The Lake County Sheriff's Office indicated that further charges may be filed as the investigation progresses and a thorough review of the seized materials is completed.
