Kidney Racket: Woman Dies, Exposing Andhra Organ Trafficking Ring
5 Dec
Summary
- Woman died after kidney removal during illegal organ trade operation.
- Largest organ trafficking racket in Andhra Pradesh unearthed.
- Hospital used false documents to exploit vulnerable donors.

In early November 2025, B. Yamuna, a 29-year-old from Visakhapatnam, tragically died after undergoing a clandestine kidney removal procedure in Madanapalle, Annamayya district. She had been promised ₹8 lakh, hoping to fund her children's education. Her death has blown the lid off what is now considered the largest organ-trafficking racket discovered in Andhra Pradesh, operating from the Global Multi-Specialty Hospital.
The investigation revealed that Yamuna was lured by brokers who exploited her financial struggles, promising a safe kidney donation and future financial security. False documents were used to facilitate the illegal transplant, violating organ donation laws. Following her death, hospital authorities attempted to conceal the cause, citing complications, but a demanded post-mortem revealed the illegal organ removal.
Authorities have since arrested eight individuals, including the hospital owner and a government doctor. The racket, suspected to be interstate, preyed on vulnerable individuals, promising large sums that were rarely paid in full. Investigations are actively pursuing a surgeon from Bengaluru and exploring connections in other states, highlighting the intersection of poverty, medical misconduct, and organized crime.
