Amritsar police announced the apprehension of two primary suspects involved in a firing incident at a Jandiala Guru jewelry shop. The arrests were made on Friday at a checkpoint near Taragarh Canal, where the suspects, Akaash Tejpal and Vishaldeep Singh, were found riding a motorcycle. Upon being signaled to halt, the individuals attempted to evade capture, leading to an exchange of gunfire with the police.
During the pursuit, the suspects' motorcycle skidded, and they resorted to firing at the officers. In the ensuing retaliatory action, Akaash sustained injuries and was subsequently admitted to a hospital. The police successfully overpowered the duo and recovered two firearms, a .30 bore and a .32 bore pistol, from their possession.
This development follows the earlier arrest of Kavish and Meharbeer, who were apprehended in connection with the January 5 incident. During their interrogation, it was revealed that they had conducted prior reconnaissance of the targeted jewelry shop located near Balmiki Chowk in Darshani Bazaar.
