Amritsar police announced Tuesday the resolution of a perplexing blind murder case, apprehending the wife of the victim and members of her lover's family. Sonu Singh, 38, was killed approximately three months prior to the arrests.
On August 12, Amandeep Kaur, the victim's wife, allegedly lured Sonu Singh to the Batala Bus Stand. There, he was reportedly handed over to her lover, Sunil Singh, and Sunil's stepfather, Gurwinder Singh. The trio then allegedly plied Sonu with liquor before taking him to Misharpura village, where he was tied up and subsequently murdered.
Gurwinder Singh is accused of slitting the victim's throat, while Sunil Singh allegedly used an axe to smash his head. The body was then packed into a sack and disposed of in a drain near Panjgraian. Police investigations, aided by technical surveillance, led to the arrests of Amandeep Kaur, Sunil's mother Seeta, and Gurwinder Singh, though Sunil remains at large.
