A 40-year-old headmaster at a private Urdu primary school in Akola has died by suicide on the school premises. The deceased, identified as Abdul Jameer Abdul Bashir, was found hanging on Thursday morning.
Authorities registered a case against three individuals named in a two-page suicide note left by Bashir. The note detailed accusations of mental harassment and pressure from the school's chairman, a suspended headmaster, and another teacher. Bashir alleged that he took on the role of in-charge headmaster following the suspension of the previous one, which significantly increased his workload, particularly as he was also serving as a Booth Level Officer.
Financial burdens also contributed to his distress. Bashir had apparently signed as a guarantor for a 13 lakh loan from a district cooperative bank. Unpaid installments after the headmaster's suspension led to mounting pressure from the bank, pushing him into severe mental distress, according to his note.
