A police constable posted in Akola was apprehended recently for allegedly subjecting a young woman to sexual assault. The accused, Sachin Gaikwad, was employed as a driver within the Akola Police's Motor Transport department.
Reports indicate that Gaikwad developed a relationship with the survivor while she was undergoing training for police recruitment. He allegedly promised to marry her, subsequently exploiting her trust to commit repeated sexual assaults.
The situation came to light when the survivor recognized the deception and filed a complaint at the Kotwali police station. Authorities have registered a case against Gaikwad and taken him into custody, affirming that stringent action will be pursued.
