18 Dec
Summary
- Police seized animal parts, including elephant teeth jewelry.
- Ancient swords, knives, and other artifacts were recovered.
- Experts from forest and archaeology departments are verifying items.

In Ajmer, police executed a raid on a house in the Hatibatta area, seizing a substantial collection of suspected antique items. The discovery included various animal parts, jewelry purportedly crafted from elephant teeth, antique swords, knives, and other artifacts, some claimed to be linked to historical rulers. The operation was prompted by information regarding prohibited forest items and antiques allegedly traded from the residence.
Officials from the forest and archaeological departments were summoned to assess whether the recovered items fall under banned categories. Initial assessments by the forest department could not immediately identify the animal species from which the nails and teeth originated. Consequently, police have been advised to submit these items for scientific examination at a forensic science laboratory (FSL).
The recovery has generated considerable interest within the city. However, no case has been registered at this time. Further actions by the authorities will be contingent upon the findings from the FSL and departmental verification reports. The investigation remains active as authorities await conclusive findings on the authenticity and legality of the seized antiquities.
