Summary
- Officer feared for his gun during violent airport encounter.
- Suspect allegedly headbutted customer at airport Starbucks.
- Brothers deny assaulting officer causing actual bodily harm.

A police officer recounted his terror after his glasses were dislodged during an alleged assault by two brothers at Manchester Airport in July 2004. The incident involved allegations of a customer being headbutted at a Starbucks cafe in Terminal 2. When officers attempted to arrest one of the brothers, Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, in the car park, he allegedly resisted.
His brother, Muhammad Amaad, intervened, leading to what the prosecution described as a high level of violence against the responding officers. Officer Zachary Marsden testified that he could not see after his spectacles were knocked off and feared his service weapon would be taken. He discharged a stun gun, but further punches landed from behind. Another officer sustained a broken nose during the struggle.
