Adulterated ghee factory raided in Rajkot

In a significant operation on Tuesday, the Porbandar local crime branch (LCB) uncovered and shut down an illegal unit producing and storing adulterated ghee in the Chhaya area of Rajkot. The raid, conducted under the Kamlabag police station's jurisdiction, resulted in the seizure of approximately 135kg of suspected adulterated ghee.
Authorities also confiscated 734kg of vanaspati ghee, which was allegedly being used as the primary raw material for the spurious product. A 50-year-old man, identified as Nagajan Dasa, a resident of the Gandhi Ashram area, was apprehended by the police for his alleged involvement in the preparation and storage of the counterfeit ghee.
Food safety officers were called to the scene to collect samples for laboratory analysis. The entire stock was sealed, and legal proceedings have been initiated against Dasa under relevant food and drugs laws. This bust is a component of a broader, ongoing statewide initiative aimed at eradicating the manufacture and distribution of fake food products across Gujarat. Previous similar operations by the Porbandar LCB have led to the uncovering of counterfeit ghee and milk production units in other local areas.
