Baby Dies Amid Adoption; Partner Faces Charges

A horrific case has emerged involving the adoption of a 13-month-old boy, Preston Davey, who tragically died. Jamie Varley, one of the prospective adoptive parents, is accused of sexually assaulting the infant and filming him while he appeared to have stopped breathing. Varley also faces charges for indecently filming the child. These alleged mistreatments reportedly occurred routinely.

Preston Davey was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital where he later died. Varley, 37, faces a murder charge and 25 other counts related to sexual and physical mistreatment. His partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley, 32, stands accused of causing or allowing the child's death and four additional offenses. Both individuals have pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The trial is currently underway at Preston Crown Court, where the details of the alleged abuse and neglect have been presented to the court. The case highlights severe concerns regarding child welfare and the protection of vulnerable children during adoption processes.
