Actor Gajendra Chauhan, known for his role in Mahabharat, recently experienced a significant financial loss of ₹98,000 due to an online cyberscam. While browsing Facebook on December 10th, Chauhan encountered an advertisement for discounted dry fruits, which appeared to be from a well-known departmental store chain. This led him to click a suspicious link, provide an OTP, and subsequently witness the fraudulent deduction of a substantial sum from his bank account.
Upon realizing he had been scammed, Chauhan immediately sought assistance from the Oshiwara police. Under the supervision of DCP Dikshit Gedam and senior inspector Sanjay Chavan, a dedicated team meticulously reviewed his bank statements to trace the transaction details. They collaborated with bank nodal officers, the payment gateway provider, and the electronic store involved in the fraudulent transfer.
The police's swift action resulted in the amount being placed on hold. Demonstrating remarkable efficiency, the full ₹98,000 was successfully refunded to Gajendra Chauhan within a period of fewer than ten days, underscoring the importance of timely reporting and law enforcement's capability to combat cybercrime.
