Actor James Handy was tragically found stabbed to death in the front yard of his Los Angeles residence. Authorities have since charged Michael Gledhill, 44, the son of Handy's girlfriend, with murder. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman stated that Handy's death was a tragic end to a life he worked hard to build. Gledhill was arrested shortly after police discovered Handy. According to his mother, Gledhill had been diagnosed with schizophrenia in July 2025 and had been prescribed medication.
However, his mother reported that Gledhill had stopped taking his medication about a week before the fatal stabbing occurred. If convicted of the murder charge with the special weapon allegation, Gledhill faces a potential sentence of 26 years to life in state prison.
