Aspiring bodybuilder Davina Licon's life was irrevocably altered on April 7, 2023, when she was attacked with acid outside a gym in Mililani, Hawaii. The assault, which occurred just two weeks before her debut bodybuilding competition, resulted in third-degree burns covering 30 percent of her body. Licon spent three months in the hospital, undergoing multiple surgeries and relearning basic life functions.
Her alleged attacker, Paul Cameron, a former acquaintance, is accused of the brutal assault. Astonishingly, while awaiting trial, Cameron allegedly orchestrated a second acid attack on another woman, Danying Zhang, from within jail. This second attack, on January 23, 2024, was reportedly an attempt to cast doubt on Cameron's involvement in Licon's assault.
Now 22, Licon is bravely sharing her story and advocating for awareness regarding acid attacks and domestic violence. She is preparing to testify at Cameron's trial on January 28, 2026, seeking justice not only for herself but for all survivors, emphasizing the need to confront such violence.
