Summary
- Driver claims he was unaware of the acid attack's purpose.
- He was offered £250 for driving to Plymouth overnight.
- Nine individuals are currently on trial for murder charges.

Brian Kalemba, a 23-year-old driver from London, has claimed he had no knowledge of an acid attack that led to a drug dealer's death. He testified in Winchester Crown Court that he was paid £250 to drive Kelvin Asante to Plymouth overnight on February 18, 2025. The victim, Danny Cahalane, was attacked at his home in Plymouth on February 21, 2025, and passed away in hospital on May 3, 2025.
Kalemba told the court he believed the destination was Portsmouth and found the overnight trip unusual. He stated he planned to return to London by train after arriving. However, Asante allegedly prevented him from leaving. Kalemba also denied a subsequent request from another defendant, Abdulrasheed Adedoja, to remain silent about the events.
Nine individuals, including Kalemba, are currently facing trial for murder, with an alternative charge of manslaughter. Several defendants are also charged with involvement in an organised crime gang and attempted kidnapping. The trial is ongoing.
