X, born in 2016, had been in the care of Ms Hronn in Western Australia for several years. The initial court order in November 2025 stipulated his return to his community, known as Town N, which Hronn sought to overturn through an appeal. The appellate division upheld the original decision.
Justice Richard Schonell highlighted that X's return was essential for him to engage in 'men's business' and assume cultural responsibilities. Schonell noted Hronn's arguments about safety concerns in Town N were not sufficiently compelling to outweigh the cultural imperative. The judges found Schonell's reasoning on cultural considerations and evidence to be detailed and nuanced.
