- Fake profiles used to harass women, including deepfake misuse.

The Ahmedabad City Cyber Crime Branch has apprehended eight individuals, including one woman, as part of the newly launched Mission Cyber Rakshika. This initiative aims to create safer digital spaces for women.
The operation, conducted under the hashtag #SecureHerSpace, saw specialized teams track and arrest suspects across Gujarat and Rajasthan. The arrests followed numerous complaints from female victims experiencing harassment, cyberstalking, and identity theft.
Investigations revealed sophisticated tactics, including the creation of numerous fake social media profiles to target hundreds of women. One suspect allegedly used 10 fake IDs over six months for harassment, while another impersonated women to contact friends of public profile holders.
Previous operations under Mission Cyber Rakshika in Rajasthan and Delhi uncovered the use of AI for deepfake nude photos and extortion. The Cyber Crime Branch is actively removing offensive content and reiterates its commitment to protecting complainant anonymity.
