An unprecedented discovery of six bodies in a remote mountainous region of western Bulgaria has sent shockwaves across the Balkan nation.
On Sunday, February 9, 2026, authorities found the bodies of three men, aged 51, 22, and a 15-year-old boy, inside a camper van in the Stara Planina mountain range. Autopsy results indicated that two murders were likely committed successively, followed by a suicide.
Earlier, on February 2, 2026, police had located the bodies of three other men, aged 45, 49, and 51, in the courtyard of a burned-out mountain hut in the same area. These three individuals are also believed to have died by suicide, with no signs of struggle other than gunshot wounds.
