Gardai conducted a significant day of action in Ballymun, seizing 44 illegal bikes and scramblers. This operation, named Operation Meacan, is designed to combat the use of vehicles in criminal activities. The seized items include a variety of e-scooters, e-bikes, motorbikes, Surrons, and mini quad bikes, all taken under the Roads Traffic Act 2023.
The coordinated effort involved multiple Garda units, including community response, drugs, and armed support teams, alongside Dublin City Council dog wardens. The searches of 13 homes in the north Dublin suburb yielded more than just vehicles.
Authorities also discovered significant quantities of drugs, cash, and weapons. A teenager was arrested following the discovery of cannabis valued at 9,000 euros. Additionally, prescription medicines, including zopiclone and alprazolam worth 2,000 euros, were found at another property, leading to the arrest of a man in his 20s.
