Authorities in Nagpur have successfully intercepted a substantial drug shipment, seizing 33 kilograms of high-grade ganja. The illicit substance, estimated to be worth Rs6.72 lakh, was found concealed within a rented room in Chandak Layout.
The operation, conducted by the Katol police and the Nagpur Rural Anti-Narcotics Cell, stemmed from a tip-off. The prime suspect, Sameer Raut, a 24-year-old from Narkhed, had rented the premises where the drugs were discovered. Two associates were present at the location during the raid.
Further investigation has revealed that the ganja was reportedly smuggled from Balangir in Odisha by a larger six-member syndicate. Police are now actively pursuing the remaining accused, identified as Vaibhav Kale, Suraj Supatkar, and Vishal Shebhekar, to dismantle the entire smuggling network.
