Three brothers, identified as Mark Wesley Scott, Bobby Ray Scott, and David Ray Scott, have been arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of Justin Hocutt. The tragic incident dates back to October 9, 1999, when 14-year-old Hocutt was last seen alive in Seligman, Missouri. His body was discovered the following morning on train tracks near his residence.
Law enforcement officials reopened the cold case in May after receiving significant new leads and conducting further analysis of existing evidence. Sergeant Bradley Germann of the Missouri State Highway Patrol emphasized the suspicious nature of the case and appealed to the community for any information.
The arrests have brought immense relief to Hocutt's family, who have waited 27 years for justice. One of the accused brothers is in custody in Barry County, while the other two are being held out of state. A news conference was scheduled for July 28 to provide further details.
