Two individuals were arrested on Wednesday at the Ambala Cantonment bus stand by the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau, Kurukshetra unit. The operation resulted in the seizure of 2.7 kg of opium from the suspects, identified as residents of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
Acting on a tip, authorities intercepted and apprehended one suspect, who was found with the opium concealed in a polythene bag. He could not provide any documentation for its possession. Subsequent interrogation led to the arrest of a second individual near the bus stand.
The court has ordered a four-day police remand for both accused. Investigators are actively pursuing leads to uncover the opium's origin, the transportation network from Uttar Pradesh to Haryana, and the intended recipient of the illicit consignment.
