Summary
- Funding aims to protect Jewish communities from rising antisemitic attacks.
- Metropolitan Police receives £86m for 300 extra officers and a new hub.
- Additional funds support national coordination, counter-terrorism, and security at Jewish sites.

Police forces across England are set to receive a substantial £251 million funding increase to bolster the protection of Jewish communities in light of rising antisemitic attacks. The Metropolitan Police will be allocated £86 million, enabling the recruitment of approximately 300 new officers and the creation of a dedicated community hub in Golders Green.
This significant investment will enhance police presence in Jewish neighborhoods, synagogues, schools, and community centers. Greater Manchester Police will receive £22 million following a fatal attack last year. Seven other police force areas with substantial Jewish populations will share approximately £43 million.
Further allocations include £41 million for national policing coordination, including antisemitism training for all officers in England and Wales, and £59 million dedicated to counter-terrorism efforts. An additional £32.4 million has been earmarked for protective security at Jewish sites in 2026-27.
This package represents a concerted effort to provide a "step change in protection" and ensure Jewish individuals can practice their faith freely and securely. The funding comes in addition to a previously announced emergency fund and includes measures to tackle antisemitism in educational institutions.
