This settlement directs $576,707 to Oregon. A broader class-action settlement totaling $46.75 million will be distributed among consumers impacted by the breach. The company's data security issues were investigated by attorneys general following the incident.
Adding to its troubles, 23andMe filed for bankruptcy in March 2025. Coinciding with this financial restructuring, founder and CEO Anne Wojcicki resigned. Previously, the company's data breach exposed account details, location, ancestry reports, DNA matches, and birthdates for 6.9 million customers.
