A 55-year-old man, Mark Mingard, has been sentenced to a total of 21 years in prison at Northampton Crown Court. He was found guilty of five offences, including the rape of a child under 13. The court heard that Mingard targeted two children between 2015 and 2021.
The investigation began when one of the victims disclosed the abuse to a friend, which led to Mingard's arrest. Following a police inquiry, he was charged with four counts of raping a child under 13 and one count of sexually assaulting a child under 13.
In addition to his prison sentence, Mingard has been issued an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. He will also be subject to an extended license period of one year upon his release from custody.
