23 Sep
Summary
- A mother pleaded guilty to disposing of her newborn's body 21 years later.
- The baby, named Baby Parker, was found wrapped in a towel in 2005.
- Advanced DNA technology identified the mother only recently.

More than two decades after a newborn's body was found, his mother has entered a guilty plea. The 39-year-old woman admitted on Wednesday to disposing of her child's body, a charge for which she was arrested and charged in February.
In July 2005, the full-term baby boy, later named Baby Parker, was discovered wrapped in a towel near Dufferin Avenue and Parkside Drive in Brantford. An autopsy found trauma to his ribs and skull, but the medical examiner could not ascertain the cause of death. Investigators were only able to identify the mother this year, utilizing advanced DNA technology. At the time of Baby Parker's birth, she would have been approximately 18 years old.
During her plea, the mother insisted she had no memory of the crime. Justice Wilson acknowledged the guilty plea but stressed the seriousness of the offense, noting that sentencing arguments are scheduled for 2 p.m. Lawyers are currently reviewing case law to inform their recommendations.
