16 Apr
Summary
- Federal agents discovered nearly 200 pounds of methamphetamine.
- A suspect cooperated with authorities, leading them to the drugs.
- Two individuals face federal charges for drug conspiracy and distribution.

Federal agents in Gwinnett County made a significant bust, seizing nearly 200 pounds of methamphetamine. The breakthrough came when a suspect, Alberto Ortiz-Osornio, allegedly informed investigators about the location of the drugs.
DEA Atlanta investigators were monitoring Ortiz-Osornio on April 3 when Gwinnett County Sheriff's deputies conducted a separate traffic stop. A drug dog alerted deputies to a pickup truck, where they discovered approximately 66 pounds of meth hidden in black totes.
Subsequently, agents approached Ortiz-Osornio, who reportedly admitted to possessing drugs at his residence. He granted agents consent to search his home on North Fulton Circle, leading to the discovery of an additional 121 pounds of meth in his bedroom.
Ortiz-Osornio, identified as a Mexican national previously deported in 2020, faces federal conspiracy, distribution, and illegal reentry charges. Marco Antonio Solano-Posadas, the driver of the pickup truck, also faces conspiracy and distribution charges. U.S. Attorney Theodore Hertzberg connected this seizure to the activities of foreign drug cartels operating within Georgia.
