Summary
- Husband sentenced to 20 years for wife's murder over dowry.
- Victim found hanging three months after court marriage in 2018.
- Court also orders departmental action against a police investigator.

A special court has handed down a 20-year rigorous imprisonment sentence to a man for the dowry-related murder of his wife. The tragic incident occurred in 2018, with the victim found hanging in her rented Indirapuram home.
The court found the husband guilty of cruelty and dowry death, noting the marriage took place just months prior. The victim's mother had accused the son-in-law and his parents of torturing her daughter for dowry, including demands for a car and a significant sum of money.
While police initially charged the parents, they were later cleared due to insufficient evidence. The court also commented on the investigation, ordering a departmental review for one of the police investigators involved.
The sentence includes imprisonment under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Dowry Prohibition Act. The convict was also fined Rs 27,000, with the money directed to the victim's mother.
