1997 Cold Case Cracked: Florida Man Arrested in NY Murder

Andrew Dykes, a 66-year-old Tampa, Florida resident, was arrested on Wednesday, December 3, on a murder charge stemming from the 1997 death of Tanya Denise Jackson. The arrest warrant was issued by Nassau County, New York. Dykes made his first court appearance on murder charges in Florida on Thursday, December 4.

Jackson, a 26-year-old U.S. Army veteran, was initially known only by a peach tattoo and the nickname "Peaches." Her daughter, Tatiana Marie Dykes, was also murdered and her remains were not discovered until 2011. The mother and daughter were positively identified in April 2025 using genetic genealogy testing. The discovery of Tatiana's remains on Long Island led investigators to link the case to the Gilgo Beach serial murders.

While Rex Heuermann was arrested in 2023 in connection with several Gilgo Beach deaths, he has not been charged in the murders of Tanya Denise Jackson and her daughter. Nassau County Police had previously offered a $25,000 reward for information regarding this cold case.
