4 Feb
Summary
- Advocate received payment after a 15-year delay for legal services.
- A total of 84 cases were handled by the advocate.
- The National Health Mission paid Rs 4.2 lakh in outstanding fees.

Advocate Manju Jain received her professional fees after a 15-year delay from the National Health Mission (NHM) on February 2, 2026. She had contested 84 cases for the Mission since her appointment in 2010. Jain raised her bill in October 2011, but it remained unpaid for years, prompting her to file a writ petition in the Rajasthan High Court in 2019.
The government's prolonged inaction led the court to impose a cost for not filing a reply. The NHM eventually stated that they decided in 2011 to consider the 84 cases as one and pay accordingly. However, this payment was also delayed for 14 years.
On November 6, 2025, the NHM sanctioned Rs 5,000 for these cases, a figure the court found inadequate. The court mandated the personal appearance of the NHM director on December 6, 2025, and February 2, 2026.
