Ashley Parr, 35, has been sentenced to 16 months in prison following a high-speed police chase in Yorkshire. The pursuit, which reached speeds of up to 140mph (225 km/h), occurred on July 21st of last year. Parr's erratic driving on the A64 and A1(M) concluded dramatically when his BMW became airborne after hitting a roundabout near Lumby.
The vehicle rolled several times before stopping in a hedge. Parr, from Guiseley, Leeds, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, drug-driving, and failing to stop for police at York Crown Court. He has also been disqualified from driving for three years and eight months.
Officers were initially alerted to Parr's dangerous driving by a member of the public. Traffic Constable Nick Simpson pursued Parr, who reached speeds of 130mph before joining the A1(M) and accelerating to 140mph. The constable emphasized the extreme danger posed by Parr's actions, noting the potential for fatal consequences for both the driver and other road users.
