Speeding Scourge: 130mph Caught Before Christmas

Essex Police have reported a significant number of speeding offences, with drivers recorded travelling at "unacceptable" speeds in the week leading up to Christmas. A staggering 568 offences were logged during a dedicated week of operations aimed at enforcing speed limits and engaging with motorists.
The highest speed recorded was an astonishing 130mph (209km/h) on the A13, with another driver caught at 127mph (204km/h) on the A130. Adam Pipe, head of roads policing, stressed the seriousness of these speeds, stating that officers will continue to target high-risk drivers.
In addition to speed enforcement, officers also monitored vehicles on the A414, where a new 50mph (80km/h) limit has been introduced following fatal incidents. The force is appealing to the public to reduce their speeds, highlighting the potential to save lives, particularly during the festive period.
