24 Nov
Summary
- An 11-year-old rape victim died while being treated for DKA.
- A 25-year-old accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody.
- The victim's family alleges her death resulted from crime-related injuries.

A tribal girl, aged 11, from Bharuch district passed away at SSG hospital in Vadodara on Monday. She had been admitted on Saturday for treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a condition she was being treated for when she died.
The FIR states the girl was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old man from her village. He was tasked with taking her home from school on November 12 after she fell ill. The accused reportedly stopped his vehicle in a secluded area, assaulted her, and then abandoned her by the roadside.
The accused has been arrested and placed in judicial custody. Hospital records indicate the girl was admitted in an unconscious state with pre-existing diabetes and DKA. While her family attributes her death to the assault, the hospital awaits the postmortem report for a conclusive cause.
