The unresolved murder of 17-year-old Krishna, who was killed for a gold locket in Indore, has seen a significant breakthrough after 11 years. The case, which had gone cold despite numerous police investigations, was revived by an unexpected confession from within a jail cell.
An inmate, after being released on bail, reported an argument he overheard between fellow prisoner Aqeel, also known as Nitra, and another inmate. During this altercation, Aqeel allegedly confessed to multiple killings, including Krishna's.
This information led police to re-investigate the 2015 murder. Krishna's body was discovered near the Khajrana bypass. Investigators learned he was targeted for the gold locket he wore. The accused, Aqeel and Arif, offered Krishna a ride, took him to a secluded area, and then robbed him.
When Krishna resisted, Aqeel fatally stabbed him. The accused attempted to destroy evidence by burning items at the scene before fleeing. Police have arrested Aqeel and Arif, who have confessed. A third accomplice, Parvez, has since passed away.
