First 'Ice' Bust in UP: Two Women Held with 100g Meth
24 Oct
Summary
- 100 grams of crystal methamphetamine seized in Lucknow.
- Two women arrested, allegedly acting as drug wholesalers.
- Consignment reportedly intended for city clubs.
The Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) has made a landmark seizure in Lucknow, arresting two women and confiscating 100 grams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as 'ice.' This marks the first such seizure of its kind in the city and potentially the state of Uttar Pradesh. The contraband, valued at approximately ₹10 lakh, was allegedly destined for supply to nightlife establishments within the city's Summit Building.
Investigators suspect the arrested women, aged 36 and 40, were operating as wholesalers of the synthetic drug. One woman resides in Rae Bareli, while the other is from Lucknow. The CBN team intercepted them on October 22 following intelligence about the drug's movement. This seizure has raised concerns due to the alleged wholesale supply of crystal meth, indicating a possible emergence of a new narcotics market in the region.
The agency is currently investigating whether this consignment was part of a larger distribution network or an isolated transaction. Efforts are underway to identify the alleged recipient woman and her connections to specific clubs. Investigators are also working to determine the origin of the drug, with Madhya Pradesh being a suspected manufacturing location.
Crystal methamphetamine is a highly addictive stimulant affecting the central nervous system, known for causing euphoria but carrying severe health risks. Its alleged availability through organized supply channels is a growing concern for law enforcement agencies monitoring the city's nightlife circuit.
