Retirees Poised to Receive Up to $5,108 in Social Security Payments Next Week

On August 15, 2025, the United States Social Security Administration (SSA) announced that millions of Americans are set to receive their Social Security payments for the month of August. The payments, which provide critical income for retirees, surviving family members, and those with disabilities, are issued in one lump sum each month.
According to the SSA, the latest round of checks will be distributed on August 20, 2025, with the payment schedule staggered based on the recipient's date of birth. Those born from the 11th to the 20th of the month will receive their benefits on August 20, while those born from the 1st to the 10th and the 21st to the 31st will be paid on August 13 and August 27, respectively.
The SSA also revealed that some retirees could receive an amount worth $5,108 this month, which is the maximum monthly benefit for those who postponed their retirement until age 70 and have sufficient work contributions. In 2025, the maximum monthly benefit is $2,831 if starting at age 62 and $4,018 at full retirement age.
