Nebius Inks Deal with Microsoft to Deliver Cloud Computing in US
8 Sep
Summary
- Nebius, formerly Yandex NV, to provide computing resources to Microsoft
- Microsoft seeking third-party providers to meet demand for cloud infrastructure, especially in AI
- Nebius looking at financing options to accelerate growth in the US

As of September 8th, 2025, Nebius, an Amsterdam-based company, has announced a deal to provide computing resources to tech giant Microsoft. The agreement will see Nebius utilizing a data center in New Jersey to deliver these services.
This development comes as Microsoft has been actively seeking third-party providers to help meet the surging demand for cloud infrastructure, especially in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). One of Microsoft's top Azure cloud customers, OpenAI, has been searching for additional capacity as users rapidly adopt its popular ChatGPT platform.
In addition to the Nebius deal, Microsoft has also turned to CoreWeave for supplementary AI computing power. OpenAI has even signed a direct agreement with CoreWeave worth billions of dollars.
Nebius, formerly known as Yandex NV, changed its name last year after Russian investors acquired the company's Russian-language search engine and other assets. The company is now looking at financing options to accelerate its growth in the US market, beyond its original plans.
Founded in 1989, Nebius has been expanding its presence in the US, opening new office spaces in San Francisco, Dallas, and New York. "Growing our presence in the US means we can be closer to our customers and support innovative American AI businesses on their journey into the future," the company stated in a blog post last November.
Prior to the latest announcement, Nebius had already more than doubled in value since the start of 2025, closing on September 8th with a market capitalization of just over $15 billion.
