Summary
- Govt to prepare DPR for extending Yellow Line to Attibele
- New metro line to connect with upcoming 90,000-seat stadium
- Plans to extend metro further to Jigani, a potential growth area

On August 19, 2025, the Karnataka government revealed plans to extend the Namma Metro's Yellow Line to the Attibele area of Bengaluru. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who oversees the city's development, made the announcement in the state Legislative Assembly.
Responding to a demand from a Congress member, Shivakumar said the government has asked the R.V. Associates of Hyderabad to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) on extending the Yellow Line, which currently runs from R.V. Road to Bommanahalli. The proposed extension would take the metro line an additional 11-12 km to reach Attibele.
Shivakumar highlighted the need for the metro expansion, noting that the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) is set to build a world-class 90,000-seat stadium near Attibele. He also said the government plans to further extend the metro line to Jigani, which he described as a "potential place" for growth.
The announcement comes as part of the state government's efforts to improve Bengaluru's public transportation infrastructure and connectivity. The extension of the Yellow Line is expected to provide better access to the upcoming stadium and facilitate development in the Attibele and Jigani areas.
