As the IT sector grapples with layoffs, Infosys, India's second-largest IT firm, is bucking the trend. In a recent interview, Infosys CEO Salil Parekh revealed the company's plans to stick to its target of hiring 20,000 freshers in the financial year 2025-26.
Parekh attributed Infosys's ability to stay ahead to its significant investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and reskilling its workforce. The company has trained over 275,000 employees at different levels, equipping them with the skills needed for the future.
Alongside its hiring plans, Infosys has also raised its lower end of the future guidance from 0% to 1%, marking a new range of 1% to 3% in constant currency. This move signals the company's confidence in its growth prospects.
Infosys's Chief Financial Officer, Jayesh Sanghrajka, further noted that the IT major has recently issued higher variable pay components to its employees. While the company has already implemented wage hikes, it is yet to decide on the timing of the next one.
With its strategic focus on AI, reskilling, and a commitment to hiring freshers, Infosys appears poised to navigate the challenges faced by the IT industry and maintain its position as a leading player in the sector.
