As of August 2025, entrepreneur Yale has found remarkable success in the cleaning industry through his innovative strategies. Just 2 years ago, in 2023, Yale quit his corporate job and launched the cleaning brand Uncle Todd's on Amazon. That same year, he also acquired Flip-It! Cap, a company that sells bottle emptying kits.
Over the past 2 years, Yale has grown Uncle Todd's, which sells products like septic pods and floor cleaner, into a seven-figure business. While the majority of his sales, around 80%, still come through Amazon, Yale has been actively expanding his retail presence and now has his products in over 3,000 stores, including major retailers like Walmart, Home Depot, and Piggly Wiggly.
Yale's success can be attributed to two key strategies: distinct packaging and an Amazon-to-retail approach. Before launching his first product, Yale closely examined his competition and noticed that many cleaning brands prioritized their brand name over clearly communicating the product's purpose. In response, Yale ensured that his packaging prominently featured the product's use case, with the brand name Uncle Todd's being secondary.
Additionally, Yale saw an opportunity to offer different packaging, opting for a craft paper, eco-friendly feel instead of the typical plastic containers used by larger brands. This unique approach has helped Yale's products stand out on crowded store shelves.
While Amazon has been crucial to Yale's initial success, he is now focused on expanding his retail presence, recognizing that many legacy brands have become complacent in their retail strategies. By first testing and validating his products on Amazon, Yale is then able to bring his top-performing items to physical stores, disrupting the status quo.
