Delhi-NCR Commuters Rejoice: Major Transport Projects Set to Launch
10 Sep
Summary
- Namo Bharat RRTS and Delhi Metro's Pink Line expansion to begin operations
- Improved commuter convenience and regional connectivity within Delhi-NCR
- Reduced travel time from Delhi to Meerut, with trains running every 10 minutes

In a significant boost to the transportation infrastructure in Delhi-NCR, two major projects are set to begin operations on September 17, 2025 - the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and the expansion of the Delhi Metro's Pink Line.
The Namo Bharat RRTS, initially planned as an 82-kilometer high-speed route between Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, currently has a 55-kilometer, partially operational section from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South with 11 stations. The remaining portion's trial runs concluded last month, paving the way for the full launch. Commuters can now expect a quick 58-minute trip from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut, with train intervals reduced from 15 minutes to 10 minutes.
Alongside the RRTS, the Delhi Metro's Phase IV extension is also nearing completion, with the Majlis Park-Maujpur section as one of its showcase projects. This 12.3-kilometer expansion adds eight elevated stations, completing the Pink Line ring. A significant engineering feature in this section is the 1.4-kilometer double-deck bridge between Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar, which raises the metro rails over a road deck for cars.
