As of August 14th, 2025, Chemours' Opteon cooling liquid has received a major boost, with the company announcing that its two-phase immersion cooling fluid has been qualified by Samsung Electronics for use in the tech giant's 4th generation Solid State Drives (SSD).
This qualification marks a significant milestone for Chemours, as the growing demands from AI and semiconductor firms have created a surge in interest for the company's innovative cooling technology. Chemours has partnered with Samsung, tank manufacturer Liquid Stack, and semiconductor firm PKI Corp. to ensure a swift qualification process, conducting extensive performance testing using a commercial-scale 48U immersion cooling tank.
According to Denise Dignam, the president and CEO of Chemours, the company's Opteon technology offers "superior compatibility, enables higher IT loads, with fewer equipment failures, and dramatically less energy and water use -- all of which translates to reduced costs for downstream users." Chemours is eager to continue working with Samsung and the broader industry to bring this breakthrough technology to market.
