- Founders faced ED scrutiny over foreign investments and business model.

Zepto's updated draft red herring prospectus details plans to raise ₹8,010 crore through its upcoming initial public offering, intensifying competition in India's quick commerce sector. The five-year-old company has overtaken Swiggy Instamart in order value and volume, though it trails Blinkit in scale and profitability. Zepto reported a net order value of ₹7,591 crore for January-March FY26, processing 210 million orders in the quarter.
Founders Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra were summoned by the Directorate of Enforcement in April concerning foreign investments. Zepto aims to be the first standalone quick commerce firm to list in India. Despite improvements in fixed costs per order, the company recorded a negative free cash flow of ₹4,329 crore for FY26, with significant cash burn remaining a concern.
Competitors like Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart are also making strategic moves, while Flipkart and Amazon India are rapidly expanding their quick commerce offerings. Analysts suggest that investors will prioritize a path to profitability, indicating sustained cash burn across the sector as companies focus on customer acquisition and expansion.
