Zendesk is acquiring Forethought, a company renowned for its AI-driven customer service automation software. The deal, announced on Wednesday, is anticipated to be finalized by the end of March. Forethought, which won TechCrunch Battlefield in 2018, significantly predates the widespread popularity of AI agents seen today.
Following its early success, Forethought secured notable clients like Upwork and Grammarly, supporting over a billion customer interactions monthly by 2025. Co-founder Deon Nicholas highlighted the acquisition as a milestone, emphasizing AI's transformative potential in customer experience and across industries.
Zendesk, known for its customer service products, plans to retain Forethought's existing clients and integrate its technology into its own AI offerings, enhancing specialized agents, self-improving AI, and autonomous capabilities. This acquisition is projected to accelerate Zendesk's product development timeline by over a year.
