3 Dec
Summary
- New Chennai Wonderla park experienced ride stoppages on its opening day.
- The company cited regional power fluctuations as the cause for brief pauses.
- Wonderla stated operations returned to normal and assured ride safety.

The newly inaugurated Wonderla amusement park in Chennai encountered significant issues on its opening day, December 2nd. Multiple rides reportedly halted mid-operation, leading to public concern and widespread social media attention. The park, which welcomed nearly 2,000 visitors on its first day, faced criticism regarding potential safety lapses.
Wonderla Holidays has clarified that these momentary stoppages were a result of "regional power fluctuations" that occurred on December 2nd. The company explained that these power interruptions caused brief pauses as the rides switched to backup systems. They emphasized that operations were under control throughout the day and that inaccurate information was circulating online.
To ensure uninterrupted service, the Chennai park is currently operating entirely on its in-house power systems. The company's Managing Director reassured the public about the safety of the rides, noting the extensive operational history of Wonderla parks and advising affected visitors to seek assistance. This Chennai facility represents Wonderla's fourth amusement park, built with an investment of ₹600 crore.
