6 Jan
Summary
- Couple lost £7,000 from inheritance for their April wedding.
- At least 10 couples and others booked for parties are affected.
- The pub owners cited insurmountable debt leading to liquidation.
A significant financial blow has struck couples planning celebrations, as The Hare & Hounds pub in Keresley, Coventry, has entered liquidation. Andy Bordley reported losing £7,000, funds from his late mother, which were earmarked for his April wedding and reception at the venue.
He discovered the closure through a contact in the hospitality industry, leading to immense worry for his finances and mental well-being. Bordley is not alone; he knows of at least 10 other couples facing similar cancellations, alongside bookings for birthday parties.
The pub's operators, Triple H Hospitality Ltd, confirmed they are going into liquidation and have appointed Cromwell Insolvency. Apology emails have been sent, indicating that alternative venue arrangements may be explored, though success is uncertain given the circumstances.
