Virgin Mobile & O2 Broadband: Return of the Lost Brands?
19 Oct
Summary
- VMO2 may revive Virgin Mobile and O2 Broadband brands.
- Move aims to reverse customer losses and boost investor confidence.
- An O2 Broadband page briefly appeared on the O2 website.

Virgin Media O2 (VMO2) is reportedly contemplating the return of its former brands, Virgin Mobile and O2 Broadband, as a strategy to revitalize its business operations. This potential revival aims to staunch recent customer attrition and strengthen investor support.
The Virgin Mobile brand ceased operations in 2023 after the 2021 merger of Virgin Media and O2. Its approximately three million customers were subsequently transferred to the O2 network.
In June 2026, a new O2 Broadband page, advertising full fibre plans, briefly surfaced on O2's website before being swiftly removed. This incident suggests a potential re-evaluation of broadband services.
To lead its consumer division, VMO2 has appointed Lyssa McGowan, a former Sky executive. She has reportedly brought in former colleagues to head the O2 and Virgin Media brands, indicating a strategic redirection.
