Versiti Blood Center is preparing for a significant relocation to Dayton's Tech Town campus, with operations expected to move halfway through next year. The nonprofit blood center, which collects, tests, and distributes blood products across five states, will occupy 711 E. Monument Ave.
The new Tech Town location is designed to enhance Versiti's operations, featuring more than 20 in-house donor stations. It will also serve as a key launch point for the five to 10 mobile units that deploy daily into the community, crucial for collecting the approximately 60% of donations gathered off-site.
This move represents a substantial investment in the Dayton community, according to Versiti CEO Chris Miskel, emphasizing the organization's long-term commitment. The nonprofit, which acquired Dayton's former Community Blood Center operations (now Solvita) in late 2024, plans to preserve all 225 jobs at its current Dayton location.
Versiti's presence in Tech Town, an area known for innovation and housing entities like Dayton Children's Hospital, is expected to invigorate the campus. The relocation aims to solidify Versiti's position and attract new generations of blood donors, ensuring continued support for local hospitals and the broader community.
