11 Dec
Summary
- Rob McGovern appointed SVP of ad sales for digital platforms.
- He will oversee partnerships for Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, and more.
- Versant plans to expand free streaming and international reach.

Versant has appointed Rob McGovern, a former executive from TelevisaUnivision and WarnerMedia, as its new senior vice president of ad sales for digital platforms and ventures. McGovern, who brings over 30 years of media industry experience, will be instrumental in growing Versant's direct-to-consumer brands, including Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes.
This strategic hire aligns with Versant's post-Comcast split plan to "build beyond cable." The company is set to launch free, ad-supported streaming on Fandango at Home in the latter half of 2026. Further expansion includes international growth for Fandango and enhancements to GolfNow.
Versant is also acquiring Indy Cinema Group and Free TV Networks to bolster its distribution channels. While exploring strategic alternatives for its SportsEngine platform, the company is demonstrating a clear commitment to expanding its digital footprint and diversifying its revenue streams.
