Vedanta Ltd announced a substantial investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in Rajasthan, a move aimed at significantly boosting its production capacity across various sectors. Chairman Anil Agarwal highlighted Rajasthan's rich reserves, positioning it as a future global supplier of minerals and natural resources.
The investment will focus on doubling output in zinc, lead, silver, and oil & gas. Vedanta is also actively developing infrastructure, including a Zinc International Industrial Park designed to host new industries and support downstream sectors, alongside establishing north India's inaugural phosphate fertiliser plant.
This expansion builds on Vedanta's existing commitment to Rajasthan, where it has already invested over Rs 1.5 lakh crore, generated substantial employment, and contributed significantly to state and national exchequers. The company has previously demonstrated success in dramatically increasing production and transforming India into a silver producer.
